Product Description

When we’re busy trying to get things done, it is not difficult to forget to take care of ourselves properly. It starts with skipping a meal to reach a deadline, to working way into our personal time, to sleeping less hours to get more work done, and to develop unhealthy habits just to be able to be more productive. Such behaviours can lead us to neglect ourselves and our wellbeing, and that is why this year, JCI Malta wants to help you break those habits via its 6-session Self-Care Course starting in April. The course is sponsored by AE Business Advisors.

The first session of the course is titled Acknowledging Trauma. During this session we will discuss what makes a situation or an event “trauma”. Is it the person who labels it as traumatic, or are there clear-cut distinctions between a “difficult” event and a “traumatic” one? We will discuss the role of stress, and prolonged stress, as well as how our bodies react to traumatic events. We will learn to recognise the signs of trauma, both within ourselves, and those around us. This will be an interactive session in a safe space, however, there is no obligation from the participants to share personal details.
